How is the present situation of metal powder injection molding industry?

1. Metal powder injection Molding global market

MIM market scale continues to expand, the future is expected to show a high-speed growth situation. In terms of the global market, size is expected to be USD 5.26 billion in 2026, growing at a CAGR of 8.49% during 2021-2026.

Developed countries such as Europe and the United States and emerging markets such as China are the main shipping regions of MIM. According to relevant data, in terms of sales volume, China ranked first with 41% market share in 2018, followed by North America and Europe with 17% market share, and the three regions accounted for 75% in total.

2. Powder Metallurgy China

China MIM manufacturer scale is increasing year by year. It is expected to reach 14.14 billion yuan in 2026, with a CAGR of 11.6% from 2020 to 2026, according to the Powder Metallurgy Branch of China Steel Association.

From 2018 to 2020, the total amount of powder used in the domestic MIM industry was 8,500/10,000/12,000 tons, respectively, showing a steady upward trend, with a year-on-year growth of 17.65%/20.00% in 2019/2020

In terms of materials, at present, most China metal injection molding parts take stainless steel and iron-based alloy powders as raw materials. In order to meet the differentiated demands of parts and components in different fields, China MIM Parts raw materials show a diversification trend, and diversified materials such as cobalt-based alloy, tungsten-based alloy, magnetic materials, nickel-based alloy, and composite ceramics are gradually applied.

At present, the application of MIM China is mainly concentrated in the field of electronic products, and the application in other fields accounts for a relatively small proportion. From the perspective of sales volume, in the application distribution of China MIM mim parts manufacturer  in 2020, the three application scenarios of mobile phone, smart wearable and computer accounted for 56.3%, 11.7% and 8.3% respectively. Among them, mobile phones continued to maintain the largest share, but slightly decreased by 2.8pcts year-on-year, while computers and smart wearable products accounted for more than 3.5 pcts and 3.6pcts year-on-year respectively. In terms of other application fields, automobile, hardware and medical care accounted for 3.5%/6.9%/4.5%, respectively, with -6.8/-5.1/+1.0pct, respectively.
