Small and complex shapes
MIM allows the same freedom of design in three dimensions as injection moulding, and because of the need for injection, the possibility of moulding complex shapes facilitates the reduction of product weight and the saving of raw materials for the purpose of reducing the weight of the final product, making MIM one of the ideal ways to combine more than one individual part into a multifunctional part.
Thin-walled products
Wall thicknesses of less than 10mm are suitable for MIM, thicker outer walls are also possible, but avoid cliff-like wall thickness excesses, Ningbo Jiehuang can achieve very thin walled products of 0.2mm (but there is some dependence on the specific product shape)
Dimensional precision
MIM near net forming accuracy is typically ± 0.2%- ± 0.5% of size. As with other technologies, high precision means higher cost, so it is recommended that dimensional tolerances are relaxed as far as they can be used, and tolerances that cannot be met directly by MIM can be achieved by subsequent machining.
