what is sintering process
1. sintering
Heat treatment of powder or compact at temperatures below the melting point of the main component, with the aim of increasing its strength through metallurgical bonding between particles.
2. packing material
A material into which the compact is embedded for the purpose of separation and protection during pre-firing or sintering.
3. presintering
Heat treatment of a compact at a temperature below the final sintering temperature.
4 pressure sintering pressure
Sintering process in which a single axial pressure is applied at the same time.
5. loose-powder sintering,gravity sintering
Sintering of powder without pressing.
6. liquid-phase sintering
A powder or compact having at least two components is sintered in a liquid phase.
7. oversintering
Sintering where the sintering temperature is too high and/or the sintering time is too long, resulting in deterioration of the final properties of the product.
8. undersintering
Sintering where the sintering temperature is too low and/or the sintering time is too short, resulting in the product not achieving the required properties. 9. infiltration
A process in which a metal or alloy with a lower melting point than the product is used to fill the pores in the unsintered or sintered product in the molten state.
10. dewaxing,burn-off
Use heat to remove organic additives (binders or lubricants) from the compact.
11. mesh belt furnace
A sintering furnace in which the parts are continuously transported in the furnace, generally by a mesh belt protected by Muffle.
12. Walk-beam furnace
A sintering furnace in which parts placed in the sintering dish are transferred in the furnace by a stepper beam system.
13. pusher furnace
A sintering furnace in which parts are loaded into a boat and transported in the furnace by a propulsion system.
14. neck formation
A neck-like connection is formed between the particles during sintering.
15, blistering
Due to the violent discharge of gas, bubbling is formed on the surface of the sintered part.
16. sweating
Liquid phase leakage during heat treatment of compact.
17. sinter skin
A surface layer formed on the sintered part during sintering that behaves differently from the inside of the product.
18. relative density
The ratio of the density of a porous body to the density of a material of the same composition without pores, expressed as a percentage.
19. radial crushing strength
The fracture strength of a sintered cylinder specimen measured by applying radial pressure.
20, porosity
The ratio of the volume of all pores in a porous body to the total volume.
21. diffusion porosity
A pore formed by the diffusion of one component material into another as a result of the Kirkendall effect.
22, pore size distribution
The percentage by number or volume of apertures present at each level in a material.
23, apparent hardness
The hardness of a sintered material measured under specified conditions, which includes the effect of pores.
24, solid hardness
The hardness of a phase or particle or an area of a sintered material determined under specified conditions, which excludes the effect of pores.
25. bubble point pressure
The minimum pressure required to force a gas through a liquid-impregnated product to produce a first bubble.
26. fluid permeability
The amount of liquid or gas passing through a porous body in unit time measured under specified conditions.

②Complex shapes
Powder metallurgy allows to obtain complex shapes directly from the compacting tooling ,without any machining operation ,like teeth ,splines ,profiles ,frontal geometries etc.
③High precision
Achievable tolerances in the perpendicular direction of compacting are typically IT 8-9 as sintered,improvable up to IT 5-7 after sizing .Additional machining operations can improve the precision .
④Self-lubrication
The interconnected porosity of the material can be filled with oils ,obtaining then a self-lubricating bearing :the oil provides constant lubrication between bearing and shaft ,and the system does not need any additional external lubricant .
⑤Green technology
The manufacturing process of sintered components is certified as ecological ,because the material waste is very low ,the product is recyclable ,and the energy efficiency is good because the material is not molten.
